For those of you who are following the stimulus package, here are some great links to pull up the specifics about who's getting the money and how it is being used. A large goal of this package is to allow the most transparency possible along each step of the process, allowing people like you to track their money as it is being spent.

This Tuesday night, at 7pm, Governor Baldacci will come before the Joint Legislature and give his annual “State of the State” address (you can watch it on MPBN).  Due to the hour of the address, the House will hold session on Tuesday at 5pm, instead of the usual 10am.  The committee I serve on, Natural Resources, will spend the bulk of the day beforehand trying to catch up on work sessions and hearings to get bills voted on and, with luck, out onto the House or Senate floor.

Monday, March 9th, begins the first of many public hearings when I will be presenting testimony on bills that I’ve sponsored  for this session.  I will testify in front of the Labor Committee Monday, and soon in front of the Judiciary Committee.  I am happy to have constituents at some of the upcoming hearings, joining me in fighting for the merits of the different bills that I’ve submitted for consideration.  There is a lot of background work in getting a bill through the process, and it all starts in the public hearing.  I am always available to help Yarmouth community members who would like to present at a hearing, or just come up to observe the process.  It really is quite interesting.
